Richard B. Cheney, a distinguished businessman and public servant who is vice president. Cheney known as a popular figure on the scene of Washington politics, worked for four presidents from the United States. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush selected Cheney in July 2000 to be his running mate and noted the wisdom and judgment of Cheney. Dick Cheney is a former chief of the staff of the President. He also served as a member of Congress and he was secretary of defense. He is an honest man whom is admired by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney explained that his responsibility as an advisor in the Bush administration is that of a discreet but honest advisor. Cheney, who accepted the Republican Vice Presidential nomination in 2007, stated that the he is looking forward to working with a president who has the ability to reach beyond the political divide to engage with opposition with confidence and to achieve a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941, the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He relocated to Casper, Wyoming with his family in the year 13 when he turned thirteen. His father, who worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, directed the soil conservation district in Casper.
